Artist's Statement

Although surrounded by color, texture and form for forty years in the textile industry, I did not pursue the field of art until retirement in 2001.  Art has always been an interest and passion.

Although there has never been formal art education, I began studying with local art instructors, ensuing classes and/or workshops with regionally and nationally known artists.  Among those were: John Pringle, Bill Younger, Lee Boynton, Joe Mayer, Kurt Plinke, Sally Clark, Peggy Blades, Sihn Ja Whiteley, David Grafton and Barbara Jablin.

I am constantly in a class or workshop to better my skills as an artist.  Living on the Eastern Shore of Maryland has given me the opportunity to paint much local color including many boat and water scenes of the area.  My work is not limited to this, as I paint a broad range of subject matter.

Current organizations of which I am a member: Kent Island Federation of Arts (KIFA), Queen Anne’s County Art Council, Chestertown Art League, St. Michaels Art League, Maryland Federation of Arts, Rockville Art League, and the Montgomery Art Association.

I have been the recipient of a number of art awards.
